When enabled, both options use the lease comprehensive-cover cost.

Comparison note: the default compares third-party personal cover with comprehensive lease cover. Part of the total gap buys different insurance protection; it is not pure finance saving.

Calculation method and assumptions
  • Defaults use SAR 1,200 annual third-party cover for personal finance and SAR 4,000 annual comprehensive lease cover. Monthly instalments exclude insurance.
  • Rates and insurance figures are illustrative—not offers or market averages. Entered price and fees include VAT; unentered fees are excluded.
  • Total paid includes cash contribution, instalments, final payment, insurance and entered fees. It excludes maintenance, fuel, resale value and early-settlement effects.

Formula: initial principal × annual flat rate × months ÷ 12. Compare a real offer using APR, total payable and its written payment schedule.

Beyond the numbers

Personal financeFinance lease

Ownership

The car is yours from day one when bought with cash personal finance not secured on it.

The provider owns it until title-transfer conditions are met.

Insurance

Choose third-party or comprehensive cover; statutory minimum motor cover still applies.

Comprehensive cover is required throughout and its cost enters the total; premiums may change annually.

Travel outside Saudi Arabia

No provider authorisation is needed; border, licence, registration and insurance rules still apply.

Provider authorisation is needed; countries, duration and fees depend on the contract.

Selling before the end

Sell the owned, unencumbered car normally; the debt continues unless settled separately.

Request settlement and title transfer or approved novation; fees or a settlement shortfall may apply.

Frequently asked questions

Which is cheaper: personal finance or a finance lease?

It depends on rates, term, payments, insurance and fees. Compare the total paid in your two offers, not the car instalment alone.

How do upfront and final payments affect the instalment?

The upfront payment reduces the financed amount. The final payment defers part of repayment and lowers the monthly instalment, but remains due at the end.

Is comprehensive insurance mandatory with a finance lease?

Yes. Comprehensive insurance is required throughout a finance lease, and its cost enters the total under the contract.

Can I sell the car or travel outside Saudi Arabia?

With personal finance, you act as owner subject to normal legal requirements. With a finance lease—also commonly called lease-to-own—you must contact the provider for settlement or title transfer and for travel authorisation.
